broad spectrum antibiotic for swine

INDICATION
• Bacterial scours (watery stools; black-colored, smelly faeces containing flecks of blood)
• Pneumonia (respiratory rales, coughing, snoring)
• Septicemia (fever, prostration, dyspnea, reduced appetites)

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
Administer Sulpig 0.5 ml per kg of body weight on the first day. Then administer 0.3 ml per kg of body weight for 3-5 consecutive days. Sulpig may be administered via oral or parenteral. For oral treatment, treated drinking water should be consumed completely within 6-8 hours. Do not inject more than 5 ml of Sulpig on the same body part

• Equipment required for injection
Syringe with needle size of 1-1.5 mm, 70% alcohol, shaver/scissors.
Dismantle and clean syringe. Then disinfect the syringe including the needle by boiling it in boiling water for 20 minutes (boiling time starts when water starts to boil)

• Injection methods
Before injection, warm Sulpig so that its temperature will be about the same as the body temperature of the pig. Clean the body part to be injected by shaving the fur and wiping it with cotton containing 70% alcohol

  1. Intramuscular
    Intramuscular injection is injecting Sulpig through flesh/muscle on the thigh, hips or around the ears areas on the neck
  2. Intraperitoneal
    Intraperitoneal injection is injecting Sulpig to the peritoneal cavities (stomach cavities)
    The absorption of Sulpig at the peritoneal cavities is very fast. Research shows that the absorption speed is almost the same as the intravenous one. Therefore, intraperitoneal injection is very efficient for preventing mortality in piglet which are caused by watery stools or other digestive system disorders. To inject intraperitoneally, make the pig to lie on its back in its V-shaped manger; one person hold its two front feet and head while the other holds its two rear feet
  3. Subcutaneous
    Subcutaneous injection is injecting Sulpig under the skin, normally around the ears areas on the neck on the ribs areas

CAUTION
• Stop injection if signs of shock or stress appear
• Store in tightly closed container, in a dry and cool place, protected from direct sunlight
