ND and Gumboro are acute viral diseases in poultry. ND is a worldwide problem that presents primarily as an acute respiratory disease, but depression, nervous manifestations, or diarrhea may be the predominant clinical form. Losses caused include mortality rate 10-100%, morbidity 80-100%, decreased egg production 9-60% and egg quality in layer chickens, growth disorders and decreased body weight in broilers. Therefore, the case of ND is a serious threat to the livestock industry in Indonesia.

Gumboro disease is susceptible to attack in young chickens aged 2-6 weeks which is characterized by inflammation in bursa of fabricius and immunosuppressive. The impact of immunosuppression in chickens are decreased the vaccination response and become more sensitive to other pathogens. The findings of macroscopic lesions include inflammation and oedema bursa of fabricius to atrophy, striae hemorrhages in the muscles, hemmorages at the junction of the proventriculus and ventriculus, and swollen kidneys can be used to help confirmed the diagnosis. The Gumboro case has an important impact on poultry farming because the infection causes morbidity to reach 100% and mortality range from 25-80% depending on the strain of virus and breed of chicken.
Until now, Medion conducts active surveillance to monitor the burden of a disease over time, detect changes in disease occurrence (e.g., outbreaks), determine risk factors for the disease and populations at greatest risk. Medion analysis through molecular biology test showed that the obtained Gumboro virus was closely related to the very virulent IBD (vvIBD). The vvIBD virus can evade the immune system and increase virulence. The use of the Gumboro vaccine with homologous virus content is expected to provide broad and optimal protection as a new breakthrough in preventing the vvIBD virus.
Medion is committed to help solving problems in poultry farm, provide products which contains the latest field isolates and practical. Medivac ND T-Gumboro L Emulsion is formulated by combining 3 ND viruses and 2 Gumboro viruses which contains the latest local isolates thus provide broad and optimal protection against ND and Gumboro diseases. In addition, Medivac ND T-Gumboro L Emulsion is able to provide early protection by induce protective antibodies in 3 weeks post-vaccination and at 7 weeks post-vaccination it is still protective. With the good biosecurity and management practices, chicken are safe from ND and Gumboro attacks. Medivac ND T-Gumboro L Emulsion contains both ND and Gumboro in 1 vaccine makes vaccination practical, reduce stress in chickens and no post-vaccination reactions.
